CA Light Rail Accident Kills 3, Including 18-Month-Old
A tragedy on the tracks in California has killed three people, including an 18-month-old. And authorities say it was easily avoidable.
FOX News Radio’s Steve Rappoport has details:
Authorities in Sacramento say the driver of an SUV went around a railroad crossing arm and ignored flashing warning lights moments before a light rail train plowed into the vehicle. This woman witnessed the accident…
(Witness) “Truck flipped over, smashed the people in the car, mangled in there.”
The crash Saturday afternoon, killing two adults and an 18-month-old boy. A fourth passenger, hospitalized with serious injuries, and six people on board the train suffered minor injuries.
Transit officials say video clearly shows the driver veering around the barrier. The train was travelling at 55mph, the normal speed for that location.
