Wikipedia To Go Dark

A popular online research site is going dark for a day to protest controversial internet bills.

FOX News Radio’s Jared Halpern reports from Washington:

Wikipedia is shutting down its site tomorrow.

The website’s founder Jimmy Wales announcing on Twitter the English version of the online encyclopedia will shut down for 24 hours to draw attention to the Stop Online Piracy Act and Protect Intellectual Property Act.

Both bills are intended to crack down on pirated media sold overseas, but critics say they violate free speech rights.

Reddit, Boing Boing and other websites are joining Wikipedia’s blackout.
