Housecall for Health: Dangers of Red Meat
It may be time to cut back on all those steaks and hamburgers. A new study suggests the the frequent consumption of red meat could increase your risk of stroke.
FOX’s Colleen Cappon reports in today’s “Housecall for Health”:
Protein is part of a balanced diet, but a new Harvard study suggests you may not want to get it from red meat. Researchers found that frequently eating red meat leads to an increased risk of stroke.
In the study, men who ate more than two servings of red meat each day, had an increased stroke risk of 28%… and 19% for women.
But eating pultry instead, lowers your risk. Swapping just one portion of red meat a day with poultry showed a decrease of 27%.
