The Beverly Hillbillies Elly Mae Settles Barbie Doll Suit

An actress from an old TV hit has a new settlement in a lawsuit.

FOX News Radio’s Ron Flatter reports:

It was America’s most popular TV show in the early 60’s.  (The Beverly Hillbillies theme music) and one of the characters inspired a barbie doll.  (TV show audio) Elly Mae Clampett was played by Donna Douglas, who sued Mattel and CBS Consumer Products.  She says they didn’t get her approval to use her likeness on the Elly Mae doll.  Now an Attorney representing the 78 year-old Douglas, says the suit has been settled.  She was looking for $75,000 dollars, but what she may have gotten was not made public.  The Defendants had said since CBS owns the character, Douglas’ permission wasn’t needed.
