King Dethroned: Wendy’s Passing Burger King As #2 Fast Food Joint

The battle for fast food supremacy is set to see one chain take a big bite out of another major player.

FOX News Radio’s Steve Rappoport reports:

    The red-headed, pig-tailed girl of fast food…

(Commercial) “Hi, I’m Wendy…Yup, that one.”

…is about to dethrone a big rival.

(Commerical) “Everybody, Burger King put a diamond ring in my Whopper!”

Wendy’s, projected to bump Burger King out of the #2 spot in the burger wars.  Burger King has more U.S. locations, but a study commissioned by the Wall Street Journal finds Wendy’s is on track to out-sell B.K. by $53 million this year.

The shake up isn’t expected to threaten market-leader McDonald’s.  The “Golden Arches” rack up almost four times the amount of nationwide sales of both competitors.
