Housecall for Health: BPA in Cans
A new study suggests eating an excess of canned goods could raise levels of a chemical in your body that may be harmful.
FOX’s Colleen Cappon reports in today’s “Housecall for Health”:
New research suggests that eating canned foods can raise the level of the chemical compound BPA in our bodies. A Harvard study found that people who ate canned soup every day for five days had nearly 20x more BPA in their system than those who ate fresh soup.
BPA is a by-product of the chemicals used to prevent corrosion, and can interfere with hormones. Experts say that manufacturers need to take steps to remove BPA from the lining of cans.
