Tree-Less Christmas? Southern States Experiencing Tree Shortage
The long drought in the southern U.S. could rain disappointment on the holiday season for some, as they may not be able to get the Christmas tree they’re hoping for.
FOX News Radio’s Eben Brown explains:
It’s so dry in parts of west Texas that Christmas tree farms are a little low on inventory.
(Webb) “This year, we lost over four hundred of mainly one variety, due to the drought.”
…says Jan Webb of the Double Shovel Christmas Tree Farm in Post, Texas. She still has plenty of trees left, though. Other yule-tide farmers might import some trees from North Carolina, but she says it takes the fun out of bringing your kids and chopping your own.
(Webb) “You’re providing an experience. So that’s going to be slowed down for us.”
