Housecall For Health: The ‘Freshman 15’ Myth
Every potential college student has always tried to find ways to avoid the dreaded ‘Freshman 15’, or gaining 15 pounds during the first semester at school. Now, a new study claims the excessive weight gain is just a myth.
FOX’s Colleen Cappon has more in today’s edition of “Housecall For Health”:
New college students may pack on some extra weight, but new research says that contrary to popular belief, it isn’t 15 pounds.
Scientists from Ohio State University found that the average weight gain of freshman is just 2.4 pounds for women, and 3.4 pounds for men. Experts say weight gain happens over the course of a college career; with women gaining an average of 9 pounds and men an average of 13.
