FOXLight DVD Releases w/o 8-17-09
Disney Channel franchise Hannah Montana hit the big screen, and now comes full circle to lead off this week’s FOXLight DVD Release roundup. Hannah Montana: The Movie took Miley Cyrus and dad Billy Ray Cyrus back to their Tennessee hometown in a bid to escape from and get perspective on the craziness Montana’s double life as a student and superstar has become. Assisting in the G-Rated fun are Vanessa Williams and Emily Osment.
Horror-meister Wes Craven revisited his 1972 thriller The Last House On The Left, this time as a producer, with Monica Potter and Tony Goldwyn as the parents of Sara Paxton, who is shot and left for dead, and whose would-be killers take refuge at her parents vacation home…unbeknownst to all.
Also out this week:
Director James Toback’s unflinching, and Cannes Film Festival award-winning documentary on misunderstood fighter Mike Tyson called, simply, Tyson. Beginning at his 1986 championship win over Trevor Berbick, the film retraces his life from Brownsville, Brooklyn through all the riveting highs and lows, more candidly than you’d expect.
