Rachel Campos-Duffy: “Not Very Fashionable, Utter Failure” Jill Biden Gets Vogue, But Melania Never Got One
On Fox Across America with Jimmy Failla, “Fox And Friends Weekend” Co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy explains why it’s not fair that First Lady Jill Biden already has a Vogue cover, while former First Lady Melania Trump never got one and was not acknowledged as a fashion icon.
“Anna Wintour never recognized that Melania was the First Lady when she was. In fact, she was asked about Melania’s style, which should be an obvious thing to talk to Anna Wintour about in an interview during the Trump era. Think whatever you want about Trump, think whatever you want, even about her past as a model or whatever. She was the quintessential, most stylish, just impeccably fashioned First Lady we’ve ever had. I think she surpassed Jackie O. So they asked Anna Wintour about it and Anna Wintour won’t even say Melanie’s name and just went on to talk about how her idea of the best, most elegant First Lady was Michelle Obama. Of course, as we know, Michelle Obama got three covers. Jill has one. Hillary Clinton, probably the most unstylish, unfashionable First Lady got one, too, but then Melania never got one. And I just think it’s just so silly and it just proves that you can never get a break. It doesn’t matter how beautiful or fashionable you are, even the Vogue fashion magazine won’t cover you. And I think the other thing that’s interesting is that this fashion spread with Jill, which she’s not very fashionable, came with a 6000-word gushing piece about what an amazing First Lady she is. And she’s only been here four months. So it kind of reminded me of Obama getting the Nobel Peace Prize. But also, she’s been an utter failure. She had a vaccine event in Nashville to get people to get the vaccine and 12 people got the vaccine at her event. So she’s not even inspiring people in that way. And her husband’s whole administration, I think, has been a failure.”
