Housecall for Health: Spider Venom Taking a Bite Out of Breast Cancer?
The latest potential weapon in the war against breast cancer could come from a spider.
FOX’s Colleen Cappon reports in today’s “Housecall for Health”:
Researchers may have found an unlikely substance to kill breast cancer cells: deadly spider venom.
Scientists at the University of Queensland hope a mix of molecules in the venom from funnel-web spiders and tarantulas could offer a natural solution to breast cancer treatment. During the upcoming two-year trial, molecules from spiders’ fangs will be isolated and exposed to cancer cells, in hopes that the toxins will bind to the cancer and attack.
