Housecall for Health: Online Medicine
There seems to be a trend of going online rather than to the doctor, and it’s making doctors expand their knowledge base for referrals.
FOX’s Colleen Cappon reports in today’s “Housecall for Health”:
New research has found that the internet is quickly replacing a call to the pediatrician.
Findings presented at the National Conference of the American Academy of Petiatrics say that one in eight parents go online for medical information about their child’s condition before taking them to the emergency room. The majority of parents surveyed said they willingly visit sites recommended by their child’s doctor. Experts say this means pediatricians should be prepared to offer advice on the best websites to use.
