Healthy Hearts: Hospitalizations for Heart Failure Fall

Encouraging news on a common health problem in the U.S., as a study says Americans’ hearts are getting healthier.

FOX News Radio’s Lisa Brady reports:

A study of 55 million Medicare patients finds hospital says for heart failure falling by 30% over a decade, which the lead researcher at Yale says translates to saving billions of dollars.

Possible reasons for the decline include better control of risk factors (like high blood pressure), and fewer Emergency Room patients needing to be admitted.  But among heart failure patients who were admitted, the study finds only a slight decline in deaths within a year of being discharged.
