Mercedes Schlapp: For Democrats, Open Borders Are “A Religion And An Ideology”
On Fox Across America with Jimmy Failla, former White House Director of Strategic Communications Mercedes Schlapp discussed why Democrats defend open borders so strongly and explains what Republicans learned from losing the White House in 2020.
“I really believe that they view this as they’re trying to be as humane as possible to the people illegally coming through the border. I really think that they do not fundamentally believe in using military construction funds for the border. And we went back and forth with the Democrats when they were in Congress. And every time we would come up with a proposal where you would actually fix these broken immigration laws where you would see these immigration loopholes and also say we’re going to make sure that DACA recipients have the appropriate visas that they need and to include border security in there, they never had an interest in working with us. So I’m going to say this again. It is a religion, it is an ideology of the Democrats where they support open borders. It is where they have been. They’ve never said they were going to be tough on the border. And for Joe Biden, he’s responding to and making sure that his base and the progressives stay happy. He doesn’t view this as a national security issue in any way.”
“What we’ve experienced in this past election was this huge loss. It really shook us all up and we got to kind of pick up the pieces and rebuild and rebuild even stronger to know what we’re facing. I mean, we’ve got to deal with this issue of election integrity in so many of these states. We have to also recognize that a divided party will not stand. We know that if the Republican Party and these Never Trumpers are saying Trump is involved, we’re not going to we’re not going to help you, it’s ridiculous. We all have to come together because we know where the problems lie. It’s a progressive agenda.”
