Housecall for Health: AIDS Breakthrough
There is news that there may be a ground-breaking discovery in the research of AIDS that stumped many doctors for years. A discovery made by video gamers.
FOX’s Colleen Cappon has the details in today’s “Housecall for Health”:
In just three weeks, online video gamers have discovered an AIDS breakthrough that scientists had been working on for more than a decade.
The gamers were able to decipher the structure of a retrovirus protein that plays a critical role in how some viruses – including HIV – multiply. The discovery was made at the University of Washington with a program called Fold-It, designed to transform science problems into competitive computer games.
