Judge Andrew Napolitano: Some Of The President’s Words Exacerbate Tensions, Not Lighten Them

On Fox Across America with Jimmy Failla, Judge Andrew Napolitano discussed why President Trump needs to address the nation and why saying some states’ governors will look like “a bunch of jerks” only will make current climate worse.

“We are witnessing failure of leadership from the bottom to the top. In my view, the President’s words, especially today, saying to the governors, you’re weak and you’re going to look like a bunch of jerks, knowing that that’s going to come out shoot. Looting leads to shooting. We’re going to we’re going to release vicious dogs. These words make things worse. They don’t lighten the tension. They exacerbate it. I also see a lack of leadership on the part of these governors. I don’t mind a police chiefs kneeling with it with the demonstrators. That actually takes some wind out of their sails. Yeah. But I do mind police looking the other way when property is being destroyed.”

“I think he’s waiting too long. This is getting worse and worse. And he’s losing credibility. The shouting match with the governors. And he should have known that one of them would tape it. It’s very bad. It’s not the unifying language of the President of the United States. He has it within his ability to do that, if he can spend a little time in front of the teleprompter and tone down his impulses. I think he can wrap his arms around people. But the longer he waits, the more harm there will be and the less credibility we’ll have when he does try to do it.”
