Dr. Marc Siegel: The Summer Months Will Help To Get Things Re-Opened

On Fox Across America with Jimmy Failla, Fox News Medical Correspondent Dr. Mark Siegel explained why we might be getting closer to the economy getting back to normal and people returning to the daily routine.

“I think we have to look at how much hurt we’re doing to people, to jobs, to the economy, to depression, causing depression, causing anxiety, causing hopelessness, suicidal ideation, worsening other medical problems from stress. All of that has to factor into the equation here. What we’re trying to do is get control of a virus that just swarmed over us. I always criticize the use of words like that, hyperbolic terms like that, because they spread fear. But this thing in a month’s time really, really swarmed over us. And because of that, that’s why we’ve seen that draconian public health measures. That’s why we weren’t warned. We didn’t know it was this contagious. We didn’t know that it caused so many side effects so much of the time. Once we get this to clamp down and decrease, which we’re starting to do now, and I think the summer months and the late spring months are going to help us because I, like Dr. Redfield and Dr. Fauci, think this is a virus that’s seasonal, predominantly seasonal. So pandemics tend to continue on past spring still. I think we’re going to see a marked diminution of cases coming up in the next few weeks that we can begin to reopen things.”
