Rep. Ralph Norman: I Don’t Get Giving Everyone $1000, But All Options On The Table
On FOX Across America with Jimmy Failla, Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) discussed whether sending all adults in America $1000 will be effective in stimulating the economy and truly help those dealing with the coronavirus outbreak.
“They’re already talking about bailing out the airline industry to the tune of $50 billion, hotels, casinos. Where do you stop this? If you do one, why are you not going to be be presented with all of the others? So a thousand dollars, I don’t get it, particularly on the spur of the moment. We need to take into account, add up where we are, and let’s just put a figure to it and see how it’s going to be administered. The IRS is gonna be deluged with requests for not only tax credits, but for every other question that’s going to come up from the self-employed business man to those larger companies with a lot more employees than a small business has, but just a lot of unanswered questions. I get doing it quick. But you’ve got to know what you’re doing to make sure it’s effective. And that’s my issue. We took an oath to those of us in the House to watch over the taxpayers money. We’re responsible for a budget, which we don’t have right now. So we’ve got to know what where the money’s going. And if in Mitt Romney’s case, we’ve got a hundred-forty million people in this countr,y and not all of 18 and older, but you still time a lot of money. And is that going to get the job done? I think it’s something that we will look at. But all options are on the table now.”
