FOX on Tech: Wal-Mart Ditches Music, Teams With Amazon vs. Apple
A mega-retailer best known for their stores and a mega-retailer known online are figuring out how to get you their digital entertainment sales without having to abide by Apple’s rules.

The nation’s largest retailer, pulling out of the digital music business. Wal-Mart will no longer sell mp3s as of August 29th, and focus on video streaming instead. The retail giant jumped on the digital music bandwagon eight years ago to compete with market leader iTunes, but faced additional competition from Amazon.com. Customers who already downloaded music from Wal-Mart can still play and manage music on the site.
