President Trump signed what the White House is calling sweeping bipartisan legislation aimed at combating the opioid epidemic on Wednesday.
FOX’s Jon Decker has more from the White House:
The President touted the progress that his Administration is already making in stopping the flow of illicit drugs at the U.S. border:
(President Trump): “We are shutting down on-line networks; cracking down on international shipments and going after foreign traffickers like never before.”
The bill contains more than 70 provisions to expand treatment and recovery for Americans dealing with opioids addiction.
The Administration is also trying to tamp down on supply. Last year, the Justice Department increased the average federal sentence for drug trafficking to its highest level since 2013.
