If you live in a city, you probably don’t need a study to tell you this: life is stressful. Now, there’s a study in Thursday’s issue of the journal Nature to back that up.

Life in the big city driving you crazy? Maybe.
A new study suggests people who grow up in urban areas have a stronger reaction, in certain parts of the brain, to stress. Researchers in Germany, asking people difficult math questions while scanning their brains, and criticizing their performance.
The criticism, especially, eliciting a more vigorous response among those from cities of over 100,000 people. Maybe their brains are just used to being tweaked…
Experts say the study could ultimately help explain why city life can jeopardize mental health.
