Take a Look at the World’s Largest Squash!
A Rhode Island man is the winner of the triple crown, so to speak, when it comes to growing massive fruits.
FOX’s Lilian Woo reports:
He’s been working on it for a decade and now a Rhode Island grower is the first to nab a trifecta in the world of gargantuan foods. The third jewel in the crown, growing a giant squash which weighs more than a ton to be specific:
(Jutras) “2,118 pounds.”
That’s about what a polar bear weighs and a world record. Joe Jutras has already broken two records. In 2006 with the world’s longest gourd at 10.5 feet and a year after that, the largest pumpkin 1,689 pounds.
The keys to his success: hard work, determination:
(Jutras) “Right seeds, the right time, right year and everything lined up for me I guess this year.”
Jutras also crediting the fresh soil he put in.
