Recovery Process Begins in Puerto Rico Following Hurricane Maria

The Trump administration says Puerto Rico has some unique challenges as it recovers from Hurricane Maria.

FOX’s Rachel Sutherland reports from Washington:

Puerto Rico had a couple of pre-existing conditions before Maria hit. Homeland Security Acting Director Elaine Duke told a Senate committee the Puerto Rican government was already having financial problems, and then Irma came through before Hurricane Maria paid a visit:

(Duke) “Maria was one mile shy of being a category five hurricane, so the devastation is complete.”

Some Democrats have criticized the administration’s response to the disaster in Puerto Rico. Duke says the government is sending resources, trying to restore cell service and cope with an obliterated power system.
