Survey Finds Most Americans Aren’t Aware of How the Government Works
A new survey finding most people don’t know much about how the government works.
If you didn’t learn it in school, you found out about it on Saturday morning
“Talking about the government and how its arranged, divided in three like a circus.”
But only a quarter of Americans can name all three branches of government, that’s according to a new survey from the Annenberg Public Policy Center.
The annual Constitution Day Civics Survey finding only 26 percent of responders knew the executive, legislative and judicial branches, with 33 percent knowing none. 27 percent knew one branch.
They were also asked about the specific rights granted in the First Amendment. 48 percent knew it was Freedom of Speech, but 37 percent had no idea.
