Latest CBO Report Reveals Tough News for ObamaCare Consumers
A proposal to cut federal health care payments to insurance companies would increase some premiums, according to a CBO report.
FOX’s Jared Halpern has more from Washington:
If President Trump makes good on a threat to stop making federal cost-sharing payments to health insurers, some Americans with plans purchased on Affordable Care Act exchanges, would see a jump in premiums, that analysis done by the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office.
But, the CBO also says the higher premiums would also increase federal subsidies on many of those same plans and that would increase the federal deficit $6 billion next year and by as much has $26 billion in a decade.
The cost-sharing reimbursements are intended to subsidize out of pocket costs for people with low and moderate incomes.
President Trump has called those payments a bailout to insurance companies.
