Girl Scout Saves Her Grandmother’s Life, Receives Honor

A 13-year-old Ohio girl is being honored as a lifesaver.

    FOX’s Dave Anthony reports:

Lila Szojka says she doesn’t feel like a hero. Her grandmother thinks she is:

(Grandmother) “I couldn’t be prouder of her, I’m telling you.”

After the 13-year-old got a National Girl Scout Award on Sunday for what she did in March: Saving her grandma’s life at a Middleburg Heights Ohio Applebees:

(Grandmother) “I started choking and apparently I turned blue.”

    And Lila sprang into action:

(Szojka) “I got behind her, knocking my chair down, making a big scene, a bigger scene than it needed to be. And started doing the Heimlich.”

And it worked. Dislodging the food stuck in her throat. Lila had just a week earlier completed a girl scout first aid and CPR training course.
