Hawaii Soldier Arrested with Alleged Ties to ISIS – FBI
He served in Iraq and Afghanistan and received a number of medals and awards for his service, but now a 34-year-old soldier stationed in Hawaii is accused of supporting ISIS.
FOX’s Jessica Rosenthal reports:
Ikaika Kang was assigned to the 25th Combat Aviation Brigade in Hawaii as an air traffic controller, but he also had high level combat training. He apparently started talking about wanting to kill service-members back in 2011, but the FBI says he was radicalized last year.
FBI special agent in charge Paul Delacourt says Kang is accused of:
(Delacourt) “Providing military documents to persons he believed would pass them to ISIS, being involved with the purchase of a drone with the intent that it would be provided to ISIS and providing combatives training to persons he believed were affiliated with ISIS.”
The affidavit says Kang told an undercover agent he wanted to travel to turkey to join ISIS, said if went back to the Middle East he wouldn’t shoot back at ISIS and that America was the only terrorist organization in the world.
