Remembering JFK
Today marks what would have been the 100th birthday of slain U.S. President John F. Kennedy.
FOX’s Jon Decker has more from the White House:
The nation’s 35th President was born 100 years ago today in the Boston suburb of Brookline. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress, and also served in the Senate before at age 43, he was elected as America’s youngest President.
During his 1,036 days in the White House, President Kennedy faced down the Soviet Union during the Cuban Missile Crisis and also ramped up U.S. involvement in Vietnam.
He also delivered a memorable Inauguration speech:
(Kennedy) “And so my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.”
Former First Lady Jackie Kennedy wanted her husband remembered as a great President and compared his presidency to Camelot, the mythical court of King Arthur.
Kennedy was killed by an assassin’s bullets in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963. He was just 46-years-old.
