Baltimore Orioles CF Adam Jones a Target of Racism at Fenway Park
A racist incident at Boston’s Fenway Park Monday night has one Baltimore Orioles player furious.
FOX’s Jared Max has more:
Baltimore Orioles all-star center fielder Adam Jones tells USA Today that he was the target of racism at the hands of Boston fans Monday night at Fenway Park. Jones said a disrespectful fan “threw a bag of peanuts at me, I was called the N-word a handful of times.”
The Red Sox confirm that a fan was ejected from the stadium for throwing a bag of peanuts at Jones, who is one of 62 African American players on Opening Day Major League rosters.
Jones calls the ejection a “slap on the wrist.” He tells the USA Today, “what they need to do, is that instead of kicking them out of the stadium, they need to fine them $10,000, $20,000, $30,000. Something that really hurts somebody. Make them pay in full and if they don’t, take it out of their check. That’s how you hurt somebody.”
