Former Patriots Tight End Aaron Hernandez Found Dead in Prison Cell
Former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez has been found dead in a Massachusetts prison.
FOX’s Tonya J. Powers has the story:
Aaron Hernandez was found hanged by his bed sheet in his cell this morning around 3 o’clock. Before hanging himself with a bed sheet, he had tried to jam the cell door to keep guards from opening it.
Now, Reuters reports his attorney, Jose Baez, says Hernandez gave no sign he planned to kill himself. Last week, Hernandez was acquitted in a 2012 double murder, but was already serving life without parole in the 2013 death of Odin Lloyd.
In Boston, news of his death was met with shock and sadness:
(Man) “Just tragic, one word. It’s sad. It’s a life, lost.”
Corrections officials are not aware of any suicide note.
