Vice President Pence: “America is Committed to Strengthening Our Alliance” with Japan
Vice President Mike Pence is in Japan, kicking off talks on greater access for U.S. exporters to the Japanese market.

Vice President Mike Pence called the Japan-U.S. alliance the cornerstone of peace and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific:
(Pence) ”And under President Trump, America is committed to strengthening our alliance and deepening our friendship for the benefit of our people and for the benefit of the world.”
The Vice President was speaking in Tokyo after talks on setting up a dialogue aimed at trade that he said should be free and fair:
(Pence) “This requires breaking down barriers, leveling the playing field so that American companies and exporters can enjoy high levels of market access.”
Also a focus this visit: Japanese investment in the U.S., including in railways.
