“The Big Bend” Building in NYC Would Be Longest Building in the World, If Built
A new building is in the planning stages for New York City that could outshine some of the most unusual architecture in the world.
FOX’s Tonya J. Powers has more:
New York City is known for its tall buildings, skyscrapers, and interesting architecture. Now, a new building plan that goes “long” instead of “tall” is getting a lot of attention.
It’s the brainchild of a Greek-born architect, who envisions a u-shaped building. His idea is for a skinny, curved structure that would be 4,000 feet long and, if built, would be the longest building in the world.
It would straddle Billionaire’s Row on 57th street in Manhattan. That’s the name given to a set of ultra-luxury apartment towers that sit at the southern end of Central Park.
The building was designed to get around strict New York City zoning laws that cap building heights.
