Cummings Responds to President Trump’s Ducking Claim – Says He’s Interested in Meeting

A top House Democrat is responding to President Trump’s claim he ducked a White House meeting for political reasons.

FOX’s Jared Halpern has both sides from Capitol Hill:

In an exchange with a reporter about reaching out to the Congressional Black Caucus, President Trump suggested Maryland Democrat Elijah Cummings, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, backed out of a meeting because of political pressure:

(President Trump) “He probably was told by Schumer, or somebody like that, some other light weight. He was probably told don’t meet with Trump.”

Cummings says he’s never spoken with the Senate Democratic leader about the President:

(Cummings) “And I’m 66-years-old, and I make my own decisions, alright.”

Instead, Cummings says he is interested in talking to the President about prescription drugs, but first wants to have a plan etched out.
