Valentine’s Day: Survival Guide for Any Relationship Status
Not sure what to get your significant other for Valentine’s Day? Take a minute to think about your relationship before you head out to buy that gift.
FOX’s Ashley Papa has a Valentine’s Day special edition of “FOX on Love”:
For some, Valentine’s Day is a happy day celebrating your significant other or it’s about downing a bottle of wine wishing you had an “other”.
Sarah Merrill, founder of ‘Big Kid Problems’, has tips for everyone on this loved-filled day.
First, don’t be upset if you’re single:
(Merrill) “I think they need to take a step back and just re-evaluate the holiday in general. It’s all about a day of love, but even if there is nobody special in the picture right now, I mean that just means you get to focus all the attention on yourself.”
If you’re with someone new, Merrill says, don’t go overboard with mushy gifts:
(Merrill) “I think in a new relationship especially, an experience can go a lot farther than an actual gift. So maybe it’s plan on cooking a breakfast or wearing something sexy.”
For newly weds-still paying off those wedding bills, Merrill says it’s a good time to start a new tradition:
(Merrill) “You could set something that could be something you’ll be doing for the next 20 years of your life.”
Remember that Valentine’s Day is about the love you have for others and yourself.
