DOJ Reaches Agreement with Baltimore in Wake of Freddie Gray Death
The city of Baltimore has reached an agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice on how it should proceed in the wake of Freddie Gray’s 2015 death in police custody.
FOX’s Gurnal Scott with the story:
The announcement comes from the office of new Baltimore mayor Catherine Pugh, but has not yet been signed. Among the requirements, is that the city reform its police department. There are no specifics on how that would occur.
Freddie Gray died after being arrested and injured while travelling in a police van two years ago. Six officers were arrested and charged with Gray’s death, but none were convicted.
A DOJ investigation shortly after Gray’s death led to a report released last August that found evidence of police practices that violated civil rights.
