Wildfires Continue to Burn Through Eastern Tennessee
As a wildfire continues to burn in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, federal resources are being made available to lessen the risk to people and property.
FOX’s Gurnal Scott with the story:
So far the fire has destroyed a resort and is threatening country star Dolly Parton’s theme park ‘Dollywood’ all while forcing residents to evacuate homes in the fire’s path.
White house spokesman Josh Earnest says the government is aiding efforts to stop it:
(Earnest) “FEMA has already responded by providing a fire management assistance grant to the state of Tennessee to help them mobilize the resources that are necessary to fight the fire.”
Shelters in Gatlinburg are open for residents provided they can get there. Firefighters are optimistic that rain forecast over the next two days can slow the fire’s spread.
