Another Senior Al Qaeda Leader Bites the Dust

The Pentagon says it killed a senior Al Qaeda leader with ties to Osama bin Laden in an airstrike in Syria earlier this month.

FOX’s Lucas Tomlinson has the story from the Pentagon:

U.S. officials say Haydar Kirkan was actively plotting attacks against the West, including Turkey.

Brett McGurk, the President’s special envoy in the fight against ISIS called Kirkan a “legacy Al Qaeda terrorist and external plotter.”

The U.S. drone strike killing the Al Qaeda leader took place Oct. 17 in Northwest Syria.

The announcement comes days the U.S. military conducted drone strikes against top Al Qaeda leaders in Afghanistan last month.
