Alabama A&M Student Starts Own Food Pantry for Hungry Students
A student paying it forward with snacks.
FOX’s Krystin Goodwin has the details:
An Alabama A&M University student helping to feed fellow classmates in need. Justin Franks, a full-time student at the school says he noticed some students saying they were going to bed hungry.
The 20-year-old wanted to change this, so he turned his on campus dorm room into a donation based food pantry. With $45, Franks started with ramen noodles, Capri Suns and a few household items like tissues and water.
He took to Facebook to share the details, offering free food to students who couldn’t afford to buy snacks. His venture took off… Soon, alumni, sororities and other generous classmates were paying it forward, donating cash. Now his pantry is stocked with all kinds of goodies: Protein bars and chips.
So far, Franks says he has helped over 100 students on campus.
