FAA Investigating after Pence’s Plane Slides Off Runway
The morning after the GOP Vice-Presidential nominee’s plane skidded off the runway at a New York airport, he’s back on the campaign trail.
FOX’s Tonya J. Powers has more:
A bumpy approach turned into a rough landing last night at Laguardia Airport for the plane carrying governor Mike Pence, his family, secret service and the press.
This is what it sounded like, radio chatter between the Laguardia tower and Pence’s plane:
“We have an issue on the airport… We have an emergency in the airport… JetBlue go around… 2000.”
That audio from LiveATC.net.
The FAA says the plane was stopped by safety technology that’s designed to stop planes that overshoot runways.
The 37 passengers and 11 crew members were evacuated through the back of the plane. The plane had come to New York from Fort Dodge, Iowa, where it was delayed because of weather.
