U.S. Ramps Up Airstrikes on ISIS
With all eyes on the Mosul operation, the U.S. military has been ramping up its airstrikes against ISIS in Libya.
FOX’s Lucas Tomlinson has the latest from the Pentagon:
The U.S. military has doubled the number of airstrikes it has conducted against ISIS in Libya in the past month, according to the U.S. Africa Command.
On Friday, the U.S. military conducted two dozen airstrikes against ISIS in Libya, more than the number of airstrikes in Iraq and Syria combined that day. There have been 324 airstrikes in Libya, a majority from drones.
There were 161 U.S. airstrikes against ISIS in Libya on September 21. Others strikes come from Marine Corps jets and attack helicopters stationed aboard USS Wasp off the coast.
The U.S. military has been bombing ISIS in Libya since August 1, in support of the UN-backed Libyan government. At the time, the Pentagon said the mission would only last for weeks.
