Oprah Weighs in on Search for new Weight Watchers Boss
A diet company getting some celebrity help in picking its next CEO.
FOX’s Lisa Lacerra reports:
After three years on the job, Weight Watchers CEO James Chambers will step down at the end of the month and the company announcing Oprah Winfrey will aid in the search for his replacement.
A spokesman saying no one from inside the company, including Winfrey, is considered a candidate to replace Chambers. Winfrey bought a ten percent stake in the company last October and said she would follow its weight loss program:
(Winfrey) “Many times you look in the mirror and you don’t even recognize your own self, because you got lost, buried in the weight.”
That news she would follow the program sent shares of Weight Watchers stock soaring more than 100%, but since then, some of the company’s results have failed to meet Wall Street expectations.
