Rio Games are in the Books… Asia Gets the Spotlight Next

With the Olympic cauldron now extinguished in Rio, the Olympic focus shifts across the Pacific, where it will stay for more than a decade.

FOX’s Chris Hoenig has been covering the Rio Games:

The next three Olympic Games will take place in Asia, with Pyongchang, South Korea hosting the 2018 Winter Games, Tokyo the 2020 Summer Games, and the Olympics returning to Beijing in the winter for 2022.

It’s the first time one continent will host three consecutive Olympics since Barcelona and Albertville hosted the summer and winter games, respectively, in 1992, and Lillehammer hosted the winter games in ’94.

The 2024 Olympics will definitely leave Asia. Los Angeles, Paris, Rome and Budapest, Hungary are the finalists to host those summer games.
