How Many Types of Relationships Are There?

Many long for a relationship, but what kind are they actually looking for?

FOX’s Ashley Papa says there can be different kinds in this week’s “FOX on Love”:

Relationships come and go. Some are fleeting and others can last years.

According to Psychologist, Dr. Carmen Harra, there are four types of romantic relationships we go through and understanding which type we’re in, can help in our quest for true love like the transitory relationship:

(Dr. Harra) “Let’s say a teenager falls in love with somebody, but that’s not supposed to be necessarily her husband. It’s just supposed to transition her into becoming a woman.”

There is also the compromise relationship, which Harra says is where two people settle for each other for other reasons, like money or children, instead of emotional intimacy.

Then, there is the soulmate relationship, which is the deepest and rarest of all:

(Dr. Harra) “The last one are relationships that are just meant to solve something, to bring back something that has never been healed. We call them karmic relationships. They can be sometimes difficult, dysfunctional.”

These relationships often help a person “wake up”, for example, if they keep choosing the wrong person to date.
