Broadway Icon Encourages Others to Visit Puerto Rico

    Puerto Rico joins forces with a Broadway legend to get tourists to return, despite the Zika virus.

    FOX’s Jane Metzler has more:

    Broadway’s ‘West Side Story’ introduced audiences to actress Chita Rivera. Her father, a member of the U.S. Navy band was born in Puerto Rico. The Tony winner part of a new campaign encouraging travel to the U.S. Territory:

    (Rivera) “I invite you to experience Puerto Rico.”

    With nearly 6500 cases of the Zika virus there as of last week, the CDC has a level two travel alert in effect for the Caribbean Island. Rivera insisting:

    (Rivera) “As long as you’re not pregnant or trying to conceive you have nothing to fear from the Zika virus.”

    She notes precautions can and should be taken:

    (Rivera) “Apply insect repellent carefully.”

    Unclear how much Zika has cost Puerto Rico in lost tourism revenue.
