Settlement Reached Over Martin Luther King Jr.’s Estate
There’s a settlement in a long-running dispute involving Martin Luther King Jr’s estate.
FOX’s Dave Anthony reports:
It’s the case of Bernice King versus her two brothers, Martin Luther King III and Dexter… Fighting over their father’s two prized possessions, a Nobel Peace Prize and the Bible he traveled with that President Obama put his hand on when he was sworn in for his second term.
It started two years ago when the brothers outvoted her, wanting to sell both to an unnamed buyer. Bernice King refused to give them up and then a court ordered the items locked up. Former President Carter then got involved last year as a mediator.
The settlement agreed to Monday gives the key to the safe deposit box to Martin, but what’s not detailed in the consent order signed by a judge in Georgia, is what will happen to the Nobel Prize or the Bible.
