Ed Sheeran Faces Lawsuit for “Thinking Out Loud”

Ed Sheeran’s hit song “Thinking Out Loud” is being questioned and could possibly head to court.

FOX’s Jacquelyn Karl reports:

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran’s being sued by the family of a co-writer of Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On”:

(Gaye) “Let’s get it on… “

Claiming Sheeran’s hit song “Thinking Out Loud” sounds too much like Gaye’s song:

(Sheeran) “Thinking out loud, maybe we found love…”

The lawsuit filed by the family of Ed Townsend, claiming Sheeran copied the “heart” of “Let’s Get It On”, repeating it continuously throughout “Thinking Out Loud.”

It also says Sheeran continuing to perform the song even after he was notified of the copyright infringement claim last year.

The family’s demanding a jury trial and compensation. No comment from Sheeran’s reps.
