CDC Adds More Funding to Zika Fight

More money to fight the Zika virus is being handed out by the federal government.

FOX’s Eben Brown in Miami has the story:

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control is giving out another round of funding to states and U.S. territories to help combat the spread of Zika.

The agency is announcing another $16 million. They gave out $25 million just last month and more than $200 million so far this year. The money goes mostly to data collection to be done by state and local health departments, namely cases of Microcephaly, or deformed head and brain in infants born to infected mothers.

The announcement come as 14 cases of locally-acquired cases of Zika are confirmed in Miami.
