Tony Stewart Gears Up for Indy, Jeff Gordon Will be there Too!
Sprint Cup drivers are gearing up for Indianapolis. This Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Tony Stewart gets ready to race one last time at the Brickyard, Jeff Gordon back in the driver’s seat and NASCAR penalizes Matt Kenseth.
FOX’s Marghiee Teshineh has a preview in this “FOX in the Fast Lane”:
This weekend the Sprint Cup series goes to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and for Indiana native Tony Stewart racing at the Brickyard is special:
(Stewart) “It’s one of the most important weekends of the year for me being at home and racing in front of friends and family for the last time there, so it will be an emotional weekend for sure.”
And when it comes to strategy Stewart says he knows how to win there:
(Stewart) “I’ve got a plan on how I’m going to approach the weekend and I’m just going to stick to that plan and you know, go about our work.”
Dale Earnhardt Jr. still dealing with concussion-related symptoms will sit out the next two races. Replacing Jr. this weekend at the Brickyard will be former teammate Jeff Gordon, who retired last season.
And NASCAR penalizes Matt Kenseth after failing a post race inspection at New Hampshire. Penalties include the loss of 15 driver points taking Kenseth from eighth to ninth in the standings and a $25,000 fine for his crew chief.
