President Obama: We Stand with the People of Turkey

    Before heading to Canada to meet with leadership of the three major North American countries, President Obama gave his condolences to Turkey in response to the terror attack on a major international airport there.

    President Obama started his Canadian day trip with a call to his Turkish counterpart to offer condolences and assistance after the deadly suicide bombings at the Istanbul airport:

    (President Obama) ”We stand with the people of Turkey, and we intend to do what’s necessary to make sure that these kinds of terrible events are not happening.”

    Views, President Obama says are shared by the people of Mexico and Canada. The President is here in Canada’s capital city for the North American Leaders Summit, a big focus during this summit  on new trade promotion and combating climate change.

    President Obama will also address Canada’s Parliament.
