“SHAME ON HIM”: Sen. Joni Ernst Rips Ruben Gallego, Dems for Taking Salary While Gov’t is Shutdown
Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), the first female combat veteran elected to the U.S. Senate and author of Daughter of the Heartland: My Ode to the Country that Raised Me, joined The Guy Benson Show today to discuss the ongoing government shutdown and why it’s being driven by internal left-wing fear, not the policy of passing a clean CR. Ernst explained that Democrats have openly admitted they could reopen the government but refuse to do so because they have “leverage.” Ernst also criticized Sen. Ruben Gallego for claiming he needs his congressional paycheck because he has “bills,” calling out the hypocrisy of that statement as federal workers go unpaid due to the Democrat-led shutdown. Ernst and Benson then discussed the left’s renewed push to end the filibuster, with the senator warning that doing so would deal a major blow to democracy and the Senate’s natural checks and balances.
